Valentines Day Gifts

Nice list Hot Chick! I only threw up in my mouth when I thought about watching a few of those. Oh, just kidding. Well, only half-kidding anyway. I’ve never seen Love and Basketball, but I’ll have to at some point. And I need to make a Chick-Flicks that Guys Don’t Mind Watching list.

With no transition, I wanted to mention Canvas on Demand again. I talked about this a long time ago, but these canvases are just incredible. My boss recently got one for his father-in-law’s funeral. Every single one I’ve seen so far has nearly brought someone to tears. Basically what they do is take a photo and enlarge it to a mixture of a painting and photo and imprint it on a canvas. You’ll really have to see it to appreciate it, but they make perfect Valentines Day gifts.

Ok, enough ranting about fast food deliciousness. Any more road trips with Taco Bell and snack food the whole way and I’ll end up at fat camp.

But that’s not the camp that the title refers to. Ladies, a great gift that you can give your man would be to send him to camp, and there are a ton out there. If he’s a formal baseball player or just a fan of America’s game, send him to baseball camp.

If he’s a wannabe poker player, send him to the WPT Poker Camp.

I’m sure you can also find football camps, basketball camps, or even golf camps. You get to play with other amateurs, and you get instruction from real pros and coaches. These will probably cost a lot, but it might be the best gift ever if he’s a huge fan of the sport / game. Plus you get a vacation from each other for a week or so too. And if he goes to poker camp and actually learns something, he might make all that money back.

Nice, good one Hot Chick!  The Princess Bride is a classic.  Did you know that Andre the Giant once drank 119 12-oz beers in a 6 hour period?  Inconceivable!  Can’t wait to see what’s next.

So I was scouring the web for different gift ideas, and I found a great site that you can go to for many different personalized gifts, MemorableGifts.com.  They have a lot of gifts there that really qualify as ‘gifts you give when you have no idea what to get but don’t want to get in trouble by giving a gift certificate’.  And yes, that’s a new official gift giving category - don’t act like you wouldn’t get in trouble if you bought a gift card - even if it was to your loved one’s favorite store.  My favorite of the ‘gifts you give when you have no idea what to get but don’t want to get in trouble by giving a gift certificate’ is the personalized CD/DVD cover.

This is a pretty cool idea - you make either a mixed CD of your favorite songs, or you make a DVD of videos or pictures together.

Awww, that’s really sweet, Clueless Guy, to get something for your grandma.  I’m sure she as well as all Grandmas and Grandpas would love a gift on Valentine’s Day. 

After reading your blog regarding your golf gadget though, it got me thinking….  how many times have I taken a road trip and my boyfriend asks where we are and where we should’ve turned?  Way too many for me to count.  And, he usually refuses to pull over and ask for directions. 

With a car GPS system, you will never have to pull over because the GPS will tell you when to turn and how far you have left before turning.  I don’t have one in my car yet, because…. well, my car doesn’t have a whole lot of anything, but if I could afford it, I definitely would have one.  That’s why it would be a nice gift, and make driving and time go a lot smoother.  (Let’s just hope that the operator is smart enough to know that if the GPS says to turn and there’s a lake, not to drive into it, cuz’ well…. that wouldn’t be good.)

Wow Hot Chick, that’s a pretty cool idea. It’s really unbelievable how many different video / photo Valentines Day gifts are out there. I had no clue (obviously) before starting this blog. Those gifts are always great for parents and grandparents too.

Now for something that’s not in the least bit sentimental but it really caught my eye today. I came across a new product called the GPS Golf Guru.

This thing helps you locate golf courses, gives you information about the course, gives you directions to get to the course. Then when you’re on the course, it helps you determine distance to the pin, find hazards, etc. Plus it helps you keep track of your score, and you can upload your scores to the USGA handicapping people. I’m pretty sure it can make a sandwich for you while you’re on the course too.
This is definitely the ultimate golf gadget. Would be awesome for any golfer.

I know I’ve had a lot of photograph ideas but I keep finding more and more unique ideas to share.  This idea is actually pretty cool because you can turn one of your simplest photos into a magical light. 

What’s so neat and different about this magical light is that there is no actual photograph within the picture.  Light Affection takes the photo that you provide and carves a duplicate copy for display.  The light is placed behind which displays the beautiful illusion of your memorable moment.  It’s simply a unique way to show someone you care and can be a great gift for anyone!

Do you have way too many pictures of your sweetheart or even family and friends around your house?  well, I’ve thought of a way to display your favorite pictures but in a more rotating fashion.  It’s a personalized photo calender that can be pictures of your realtionship or family. 

It’s a cute gift for anyone really, including Mom and Dad.  It might even be cool mixing your relationship with family and friends.  That way, if you’re sick of looking at your significant other, just wait until the month is over and flip to a picture of you and your friends.

I was driving in to work today, and on the side of the road, there was a sign for unlimited golf lessons for 6 months for $199. Now that sounds like a bargain. Let’s see, if you go twice a week for the next 26 weeks, and each lesson is a half hour, the lessons come out to less than eight dollars per hour. Ladies, if your man is a golf enthusiast, maybe look into getting him some golf lessons for Valentines Day. Of course, it’s not in every city you see a random sign on the road with a deal like that, so you may want to contact your local golf course or driving range to see what kind of rates are available. Maybe his lessons will be a little like this:

So, I know that I’ve mentioned a form of scrapbooking in a past post, but I stumbled across this idea that may be similar, but unique….. and an idea that you can create yourself.  Everything is digital and for a very inexpensive price, can be downloaded to your computer and you design the rest.  You choose your pictures and input in the photo kit you’ve downloaded. 

The software comes with a page layout kit and complete instructions and “how to’s” to help you make your scrapbook.  It’s a great gift for your boy or girlfriend or even family members.  The nice thing about this is that “YOU” are creating the gift and not just purchasing it. 

Ok, so I admit, I am a tad spoiled but my vote on this ring calculator thing? A tad cheesy….. I don’t think how you feel about someone should be based on how much you spend on a ring. For me? Well, don’t get me wrong, I think I deserve more than a cubic zirconia, but I don’t want my man paying for life on a ring either. Somthing simple and elegant will do. My advise……. go with your best judgement and I’m sure she’ll love it.

Ok, now to what I was really planning on talking about. Clueless Guy has mentioned on many occasions that a gift should be something practical. So, why not a laptop computer? That’s practical…. and totally convenient.  It’s a perfect gift for anyone! (And… I don’t have to leave my couch to check my email or play a little solitare. )
