I’ve been told by Hot Chick, female relatives, women I’ve dated, female friends, and all other female acquaintances that, believe it or not, women like jewelry. I know, I know. I’m giving you an earth-shattering revelation about women. You can thank me later. But with so many jewelry stores out there, where do you go? And for that matter, do you shop online or in the store? Personally, I hate going to malls, and when I’m shopping at any brick-and-mortar jewelry store, I get the feeling that a nice chunk of my purchase is going to the slick well-dressed sales rep.

So I’d rather go to a place online that doesn’t have the overhead. But there are about a million jewelry store sites out there. I did a quick search on Google for “gold jewelry”, and I found a site called Applesofgold.com. They have a very simple site to navigate, and it looks like they specialize in gemstone jewelry, gold jewelry, and a ton of diamond jewelry.

I’m sure they have other stuff that women like too - an absolutely huge collection - over 2500 pages indexed, so I’m guessing around 2500 products. That’s just nuts.

I hear that pocket watches are making a comeback. I don’t know exactly who carries them - I’m just telling you what I heard. Not for me, but then again I’ve never been one to wear a watch at all. For whatever reason, they make me jittery (don’t laugh. Oh wait, you already did? Nevermind then). I think it’s because I’m constantly checking the time, so that makes me constantly worried about being late. So…I guess maybe I do need a pocket watch then.

Of course, I already have a cell phone which sends emails, makes and receives calls, has chat capabilities, plays old Nintendo games, stores books, and even…tells the time. Oh, and it can be a tip calculator.

Anyway, the point is that some people really like pocket watches. It probably makes them look cool or old school or something.

I stumbled upon this new widget from GroomGroove.com. You can put it on your website, and it gives you the ability to figure out how much you should spend on an engagement ring.

What do you think? Is it amusing, or just a tad disgusting that a widget tells you how much you need to spend on a ring?

Do real men wear jewelry? Well, technically yes, I suppose. Personally I’m not a huge fan of wearing jewelry - never got my ears pierced, never wore any “$$” or “#1″ bling, never wore my class ring (that I did spend $300 on), never wear watches. It’s not that I don’t like jewelry, I just never remember to wear it and I usually just end up getting annoyed.

I did find some jewelry I might actually wear every day at JewelryCrossings.com. They have a bunch of different jewelry options for guys, including a huge line of World Poker Tour items.

Ladies, if your man is a poker fan, this will be a gift he’ll appreciate - maybe it will even help him out with his game.

Interpretation of the ZZ Top song aside, giving your special lady the gift of a pearl necklace, or any kind of pearls for that matter, will be a gift she’ll cherish. Pearls have that classic look to them - attractive yet elegant. I dare you to buy some form of them and not mention Wilma Flintstone, Marge Simpson, or June Cleaver. You just can’t do it.

I think we all know that we ladies love the jewelry, so how about buying your man a watch? Yeah ok, so I know that in recent posts the question of practicality came up in buying jewelry for that special someone you love. But seriously guys, you wouldn’t know what time it was if you didn’t have your watch. And yes, added bonus…. it’s stylish.
